When a tooth is missing, a bridge can be a good choice for replacing it. Dental bridges consist of a custom made false tooth that is supported by a crown on each side. The crowns that are placed over the adjacent teeth support the false tooth and it keeps the bridge supported.
On your first visit, after numbing the area, a handpiece is used to remove any decay and/or to shape the teeth so the teeth will securely support the crowns. Then an impression of your teeth will be taken to be sent to the dental lab. A temporary bridge will be placed in the meantime to protect your teeth. The next visit which is approximately 7-10 days later, the temporary bridge will be removed and the permanent bridge will be bonded in place. Your bite will checked and any necessary adjustments will be made.
